Office interior design in Berlin,
from the layout to the office furniture.

CARLO Design plans offices and commercial spaces in Berlin, from the layout through materials and light to the office furniture. We also handle permits, tendering and site management, so you have one contact from the Project Check to handover. Two of our Berlin references are offices: Venice Variations and A Greek Mythology.

Example: Venice Variations

How an ordinary office became Venice Variations.

Venice Variations began with an ordinary office. The brief was to turn it into a place that means something to the people who work there. From Venice we took the textures and left out the postcard motifs. Patterned wallpapers structure the rooms, the conference room is the main space, and the smaller rooms vary the same theme.

An office project with us starts with how your team works: where people concentrate, where they work together, where clients are received. That leads to the layout, light and materials, and only at the end to the office furniture.

What we take on for offices and commercial spaces

Layout, furniture and site management from one team.

An office is used every day by many people, for years. So the planning comes before the first furniture order.

i.

Layout and use

We arrange workstations, meeting rooms, reception and quiet areas around the way you work. If the use of a space changes or the structure is affected, we clarify the permit. In Berlin we handle design across HOAI work stages 1 to 9 and file the application ourselves.

Atmosphere and office furniture

Colour, wallpaper, curtains, lighting and furniture from one team. We choose pieces for daily use, draw built-ins to measure and take care of ordering, delivery and assembly.

Tendering and site management

Bills of quantities, quote comparison, scheduling and quality control under HOAI work stage 8. We have worked with many Berlin trades for more than a decade.

Construction management in Berlin
How an office project runs

Six steps,
from walk-through to the first working day.

How long a conversion takes depends on its scope and on whether a permit is needed. You receive a realistic schedule before you commit.

  • i.

    Project Check on site

We look at the space and talk about your team, your clients and your timeframe.

  • ii.

    Survey and approval check

Measurements, condition and the question of whether a procedure is needed. In unclear cases we settle it through a preliminary building enquiry before design starts.

  • iii.

    Concept

Layout, theme and material direction. For A Greek Mythology the rule was: Greek references, current execution, no literal mythology.

  • iv.

    Construction drawings and tender

Detail drawings, bills of quantities and comparable quotes from Berlin trades.

  • v.

    Conversion with site management

Weekly site meetings, control of schedule and costs, and one contact for all trades.

  • vi.

    Furnishing and handover

Furniture, lighting and textiles are delivered, assembled and arranged before your team moves in.

Project

A Greek Mythology.

A modern workspace in Berlin with a vocabulary from antiquity: columns, ornament, sculpture and a palette of cream, black and gold. The room is as calm as a museum gallery and still comfortable enough for everyday office work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Yes. There is no fixed minimum; what matters is whether the space needs considered planning. For very small projects we tell you openly whether working with us is worthwhile for you.
Yes. We choose furniture, lighting and textiles, draw built-ins to measure and take care of ordering, delivery and assembly. You can commission the furnishing as part of a conversion or for a space that is already finished.
Many works in existing buildings need no permit as long as the structure, façade and use stay the same. If the use of the space changes or load-bearing walls are opened, a procedure is usually required. Berlin has new deadlines since 2026, which we explain in Building permit Berlin 2026.
It depends on floor area, condition and scope, so a flat rate would not be serious. We set out our fee after the Project Check, broken down by work stage, and the construction costs as an estimate with prices from our Berlin network of trades. How fee models work is explained in How much does an interior designer cost.
That depends on whether the works can be split into phases and how loud and dusty they are. We settle this before the tender, because it determines the order, duration and cost of the works.
